Dawn's Story
I got my first horse at 30. My parents promised me a horse when I was twelve when we moved to the country, but none of us knew anything about them so it was probably a good thing I didn't get a horse then.
My husband Ray had horses previously and missed them so we decided it was time to buy some and fulfill our dreams.
Buddy was my first horse, an older gelding who was great. He was solid and a great confidence builder, but soon became lame. We purchased my second horse at an auction. She was nice and quiet, but after we got her home, we realized she must have been drugged. We later found out she was abused and beaten with boards. She was head shy, nervous and after rearing over on top of Ray, we both realized we needed help.

Cindy's Story
I got my first horse when i was 13. She was beautiful, she bucked me off, broke my nose twice, but I loved her. We had to sell her because we were moving to New Jersey. After we sold her, we learned that she was branded a "killer" horse.
I purchased other horses when I was in my 20's, but never got really serious with them until my 30's. I bought Jack at an auction, he was a ranch horse that had been used for rodeo. He was confident and beautiful, but had some really deep seated issues. He never hurt me, but he was a bundle of nerves and always on edge. I had no problem riding him, but he destroyed my confidence. Gary, my husband never had horses and did not want me to have one. His experience was that horses hurt people. I tried to prove him wrong, but Jack was very unstable.
